A
panorama that tells the story of a conflict that continues between an
occupier and a defender of his rights. We met as usual to plan this
collaborative work, our lines wrestled and our ideas were many till
they converged on one paper. We kept deliberating till this giant work
of art appeared.
"Between injustice and darkness" 18*2 Meters with dark night colors.
Its centerpiece symbolizes a man carrying the burden of suffering,
destruction and Diaspora, people flock like birds around him carrying
a martyr glowing like moonlight. Its beginning shows a battle and

Field commemoration quilts |

The fifty year Commemoration Quilt is a unique piece of art
representing the partnership that has developed between UNRWA and
the Palestine refugees over the last 50 years. The Commemoration
Quilt consists of five separate quilts of 25 panels each totaling
450cm square. It has been produced by Palestine refugees who live
in and outside the refugee camps and who are school pupils,
artists, writers, staff in UNRWA facilities, Vocational Training
Centre students and many others. |
|
Each UNRWA Field Office in Jordan, Lebanon, the Syrian Arab
Republic, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip was responsible for the
coordination of their quilt. The panels displayed represent a good
cross-section of the hundreds of panels that were produced for
this project.
A special thank you and tribute goes to the women in the UNRWA
Embroidery Centre, Gaza and Al-Rimal Preparatory Girls' School,
Gaza who assembled the quilt panels from Lebanon, Syria and the
West Bank.
